Assignment 01 – Light and Form

Description

Using Piet Zwart, André Kertész, and others as inspiration, create an interseting image with little means, using light to make an interesting form.

Plan

I planned to use different sided dice, but as it turned out, their form (and colour) was too distracting to my liking. A suggestion by the teacher to use paper on a roll was much more fruitful.

Assignment 06 – Interior

Description

Take a series of images of the interior of the building of the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology.

Plan

As there are so many things worth shooting a series off (the building has many, many appealing design elements), I decided to (severely) limit myself to the subjects “seats”.

A video on Jeff Wall and time in the studio to work on Assignment 01.

School Day 04 – No School

Due to illness of the teacher, no school today.

School Day 05 – Pinhole & Sally Man

With the pinhole camera built earlier, we visited the Royal Acadamy of Art in Den Haag to take our pinhole shots and develop them in the darkroom. The results can be found under “Assignment 02 – Pinhole”.

A visit to the Fotomuseum with an exhibition of Sally Man (short review) completed the day.

School Day 06 – Portrait

Time to work, in the studio, on the portrait assignments.

School Day 07 – History

A visit to the ICM (Institute for Concrete Matter), a large collection of vintage prints. Certainly worth a visit if you'd like to know more about old photography (and its techniques)!

After the ICM, we visited Spaarnestad Photo, the largest photo archive in the Netherlands, containing about 12 million press and documentary photographs.

School Day 08 – Interior

A visit to the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology where we were given the last assignment of this module:
